East Lancashire Community Foundation launches its first holiday camps at Burnley RUFC
East Lancashire Community Foundation is delighted to launch its first holiday camps at Burnley RUFC this October half-term, offering Rugby Development Camps and Kids Rugby & Multi-Sports Camps for local children and young people.
The launch marks an exciting milestone for the Foundation, bringing its first camp programme to life with opportunities to develop sporting skills, build confidence, make friends and enjoy an active school holiday.
Burnley RUFC will host both camps, with dedicated rugby development sessions for older players and a varied programme of sport, creativity and Halloween fun for younger children.
Rugby Development Camps
Taking place on 26 and 27 October, the Rugby Development Camps welcome players aged 12–15 of all abilities who want to improve their skills and deepen their understanding of the game.
Sessions will include position-specific coaching for forwards and backs, safe contact technique, attack and defence fundamentals, and decision-making under pressure. Players will also explore strength and conditioning, nutrition, recovery, leadership and communication, helping them develop both on and off the pitch.
Professional game and video analysis will support their learning, with each player receiving a personal development plan to take away and continue working on at their own club.
The camps run from 9am to 3pm, with drop-off available from 8.30am, and cost £25 per day.
Kids Rugby & Multi-Sports Camps
For children aged 5–11, the Kids Rugby & Multi-Sports Camps will run from 28 to 30 October, offering three days packed with activity and half-term fun.
Children can enjoy rugby, football and athletics alongside arts and crafts, games and exciting Halloween activities. The varied programme gives children the chance to try something new, make friends and stay active in a welcoming environment.
The camps run from 9am to 3pm and cost £18 per day, or £50 for all three days.
Simon Finnan, Foundation Lead, said:
“We’re incredibly excited to launch our first holiday camps at Burnley RUFC. A huge amount of work has gone into bringing this programme together, and we can’t wait to welcome children and young people for a brilliant October half-term.
“From helping young rugby players take their next steps to giving younger children the chance to enjoy different sports and activities, these camps are about creating opportunities to learn, build confidence and have fun.
“Burnley is the starting point for our camp programme, which we will extend across our partner rugby clubs to reach more families throughout East Lancashire.”
Following the launch at Burnley RUFC, the Foundation will extend its holiday camp provision through its five partner clubs: Blackburn, Burnley, Clitheroe, Colne & Nelson, and Rossendale. This will bring more opportunities for children and young people to access the Foundation’s activities within their local communities.
The team is looking forward to welcoming families to Burnley RUFC when the first camps begin on 26 October, and it’s not too late to book!
