Thorne Fire & Security Announced as Programme Sponsor of East Lancashire Community Foundation
East Lancashire Community Foundation is delighted to welcome Thorne Fire & Security as a Programme Sponsor, supporting the delivery of its secondary school rugby programme at Unity College Burnley.
Their support has helped provide rugby sessions for boys and girls aged 11–16 throughout the first term, both within the curriculum and through after-school sessions. With most participating students new to the game, the programme is introducing more young people to rugby in a familiar, supportive school environment.
From learning the foundations through touch rugby to developing skills for contact rugby, students have opportunities to build their confidence, improve their skills and experience the teamwork and enjoyment the sport offers.
Hadrian, of Thorne Fire & Security, commented:
“Thorne Fire & Security positively support sporting activities in our local area, the opportunity to enable more youngsters to experience rugby in our community was an opportunity we take a great amount of pride in supporting.”
The partnership supports the Foundation’s wider work across East Lancashire, using rugby’s core values of teamwork, respect, enjoyment, discipline and sportsmanship to create opportunities in local schools and communities.
By supporting both curriculum and after-school delivery, Thorne Fire & Security is helping students discover rugby during the school day and giving them opportunities to continue developing their interest beyond lessons.
Simon Finnan, Foundation Lead at East Lancashire Community Foundation, said:
